Frequently Asked Questions

What is an insurance broker and how is Focus Insurance different from an insurer?

An insurance broker acts on your behalf to arrange insurance from a panel of insurers. Focus Insurance Services is a broker, not an insurer. We do not underwrite policies. We search the market to find suitable cover for your business and act as your advocate throughout the policy lifecycle.

Is Focus Insurance Services regulated by the FCA?

Yes. Focus Insurance Services is a trading name of Captios Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Our FCA Reference Number is 717691. You can verify our registration on the FCA Register at register.fca.org.uk.

What types of commercial insurance do you arrange?

We specialise in Property Owners Insurance (including landlord, HMO, block of flats, and portfolio cover), Shops and Trades Insurance (including retail, contractors, and tradespeople), and Fleet Insurance (mini fleet, SME fleet, and large commercial fleets). We also arrange Employers Liability, Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, and other specialist covers.

How do I get a quote?

We do not provide instant online quotes. Our brokers take time to understand your business before approaching the market. To request a quote, please call us on 01733 263311 or complete our online enquiry form. We will contact you to discuss your requirements and arrange suitable cover.

What should I do if I need to make a claim?

Contact us as soon as possible during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) on 01733 263311. We will guide you through the claims process and liaise with your insurer on your behalf. Do not admit liability or make any payments without consulting us first.

How do you charge for your services?

We are remunerated by way of commission paid by the insurer when we place your policy. In some cases, we may also charge an arrangement fee. We will always disclose the basis of our remuneration before you proceed.

What is your complaints procedure?

If you are dissatisfied with our service, please contact us in the first instance. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 8 weeks. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). Full details are on our Complaints page.
